Some of My Projects

My Writing

Firstly, please do check out my writings! They are my biggest projects. You can start here.

Girl and Guitar

Just a girl and her guitar, Girl and Guitar is a music project all about loving music by making and sharing it using the vehicle of simplicity. Because, as for me, part of what has always stopped me from expressing my love of music are the many ways in which I complicate that process! This project aims to not just encourage myself, but everyone who might have an inkling to music it up đź™‚ Come love music and be encouraged with me!

In the works is our American Roots EP. Which is really no big deal because it’s all about simplicity… so it will be just Guitar and I doing one take songs recording together on one track, with no effects. But the music we will be doing is American Roots songs… and those are awesome. The hold up is I’m trying to just get a little better at playing guitar… so my stumbling fingers don’t distract so much from the songs, and the more I record myself singing… the more I think I should practice too… 🙂 Which is why I’m already sharing some of my music… as I know I will never feel practiced enough!

We also have a number of other projects related to our American Roots EP… because I really can’t help but complicate things. But those are a surprise, so you’ll just have to stay tuned. Hehe.

The Deep and True Adventurers’ Guild

This is actually a book writing project. About how, when I found myself with crippling social anxiety in high school, I used the idea of adventure to help open me up to life and overcome the fears that were stopping me from truly living. My first “adventures” were not what people would think of as “adventures”: for me in my social anxiety, smiling at a stranger was jumping off a cliff. To me, that smile was a “deep and true adventure”.

Indeed, you don’t have to adventure conventionally to be an adventurer: bringing the spirit of adventure into life in all its forms can be a vehicle to propel you towards a deep and wide and rich and full life no matter where you are or what you or doing. Or, as I found out when I explored the deeper roots of my attachment to the idea of adventure, adventure can also be a way to hide from life and its fears and hopes and pains–

Ooh… deep 🙂

Indeed. I’m not a conventional adventurer: I’m a deep and true one. I use the spirit of adventure to challenge myself to live a deeper and fuller life, even if I’m not off “adventuring” somewhere. As I am deeply inspired by the quintessential adventurers I know who sail the world and visit exotic ports, hop trains, and snowboard and surf some of the best locales in the world. But I don’t want their adventures. Rather, it is the spirit with which they live those adventures which truly inspires me: they go into their adventures so obviously living boldly and courageously and passionately and so open to life and with such appreciation for it. And I truly believe that you can bring this spirit of adventure into “everyday life” and it can help you to live more deeply and fully no matter where you are or what you are doing.

Truly. I’m not a conventional adventurer: I’m a deep and true one. I’ve always had trouble getting people to see and understand this about me. Perhaps because I made up the concept of “deep and true adventuring”… and because I let people just connect with my conventional adventures instead of letting them get to know me on a deeper level. So this is me continuing to try to explain myself… as I consider being more openly authentic a fitting deep and true adventure for me (Now that I am comfortable saying “hi” to people :). And this project is me inviting others, who are so inclined, into deep and true adventure with me as well. The website is in the works, and there you can explore some of my ideas of adventure and join the guild if you are so inclined.

Do come adventure with me and help me write a book 🙂 There will be jean jackets with deep and true adventure patches. Maybe. You’ll have to see for yourself:

Philosophy Gone Rogue

Philosophy Gone Rogue is an outlet for all my philosophical concerns and thoughts. When I chose not to continue my philosophy studies into grad school, I’d resigned that the trains of thought I had been exploring would stay stuck at their last station. But one day I realized how important it was to not be a part of perpetuating the myth that philosophy belongs solely to academia rather than being the birthright of every human being. So I decided to pick up my philosophical thoughts again. And beyond philosophy being something which should far outreach academia, thinking philosophically allows us to be free and independent thinkers… “philosophical rogues” if you will. And being such thinkers is so important to realizing the potentials of our lives and who we are.

Thus, this is my project being a part of freeing philosophy from both academic conventions and conventional thought and championing its ability to free us all through independent thought… it is, philosophy gone rogue,

I think.

Keep checking in for when we go live so you can join the movement and muse with me!

The Yellow Thread and Purple Patch

Just living the childhood dream of designing and (maybe?) selling t-shirts. Because, why not? If you like quirky shirts, or merely like to be clothed, you will want to check out “The Yellow Thread and Purple Patch” when it goes live!

The Sailor Arts Society

The Sailor Arts Society is an educational platform and store which seeks to preserve the traditional sailor arts of ropework and canvas work by giving people access to those arts through educational materials which aim to pass those arts on, as well as access to hand made objects by which people can support and appreciate the sailor arts as well.

The storefront is in the works, so check back soon!

How to Play with Gravity

Snowboarding should be ridiculously fun… and it’s more fun the better you flow with your board, the snow, and the mountain. How to Play with Gravity is a guide to help you develop that flow, at any skill level in snowboarding. A product of many happy and magical hours spent riding and teaching with a wonderful crew on a small yet enchanted mountain which honed creative riding like nobodies business, I hope this project can impart just a little bit of the joy of that experience to you and help you go shred the gnar for all it’s worth đź™‚

The website and book are in the works, so check back soon for updates!

(P.S. Literally just realized this title could be interpreted as “How to Play Seriously.” Hehehehe. I love it.)
